rainstick
ha, this is way over my head.... I'm curious if anyone listens to this as an aural pleasure or just respects it? I like how crazy it is, but i could never imagine myself thinking id stick it on for ten minutes or whatever...
ski
Gotta respect that the guy can perform circular breathing, and he's clearly got some playing technique. Yes, there were times when it sounded like someone was leaning on a truck horn, but really it's hard to judge this kind of thing out of context, or without hearing him play other music. Who knows, maybe he's a one-trick pony who does overblowing, multiphonics, and doesn't know how to get a good tone (which any amateur can do). Or maybe he was just in an experimental mood, deliberately forsaking all of his woodshedding and performing something that was both urban and primal. Hard to say from one performance. rainstick
Yeh, I'm not saying that 'anyone can make this racket' or anything along those lines.... just wondered if anyone would actually ' listen ' to this in the conventional sense of the word, i love the fact that he's playing it regardless. Art Ensemble of Chicago! haven't heard them! i will have a butchers.
