enigma
Hi, My computer is not fast enough to handle all the tracks I want to add. Is there a trick to free up space? Maybe mix down several tracks to one? I know how to merge, but that doesn't allow me to keep the panning set up that I created: it sends all the tracks to one designation on the listening spectrum. Thanks for the help.
triplets
Are you saving to an external FW800 drive? If not, you should. Because of data safety reasons and to alleviate the work for your internal HD.
Rev. Juda Sleaze
Audio or software instrument midi tracks? If software instruments, bounce them to audio.
enigma
I am saving to an external drive. It is a Western Digital brand. I think it is 500. They are audio tracks.
Rev. Juda Sleaze
Lots of plug-ins? If so, freeze or bounce-in-place.
David Nahmani
Make sure you've determined it's a HD issue though? What does the alert say? What do the HD and CPU meters say in the transport bar? If it's a CPU issue then freezer/bounce in place, but if it's a HD issue then you can sub-mix: solo a group of tracks and bounce. Then import the bounce on a new audio track. To prevent the original group of tracks to still hit the HD you can either mute the regions or switch your track mute/solo to CPU-saving under Preferences > Audio > General. enigma
I'll have to check what the alert says again and post it here. It says something about overload. Thanks for the tips. The freezing has worked wonders so far. Haven't tried the bounce-in-place yet.
Eric Cardenas
I'll have to check what the alert says again and post it here. It says something about overload. Thanks for the tips. The freezing has worked wonders so far. Haven't tried the bounce-in-place yet. It was probably a CPU issue as it was mended with freezing the tracks. enigma
I found that it is actually two different messages. One is: "Disk is too slow or system overload." The other is: "System overload. The audio engine was not able to process all required data in time."
