posthorn1
I just ordered a small (2.5") External HD for my new MacBook Pro. With the fast Thunderbolt connection I didn't bother to notice that it's a 5400rpm drive. I was planning to use it to store my 500 gigs of samples and stream from it in Logic 9.1.7 w/ OS10.8. Will this work or is the slower rpm a deal-breaker? (Maybe having the smaller, more portable HD's is not an option with a DAW...) Any thoughts out there? triplets
A 5400 rpm drive for audio purposes is not ideal. With a thunderbolt connection, it would be the same as having another internal HD at 5400 rpm.
Gravity Jim
^^ Roger that. It might work depending on the demands you place on it, but I uke not install a 5400 rpm drive in my system.
posthorn1
Thanks, folks. Not taking any chances. I'm returning it before it's opened...
