Eddy J
Hello, Just bought a Novation 49 SL MKII and have problems detecting it in Logic. Downloaded the latest version of Automap and also updated the Controller with the latest firmware. When I Scan for devices in the Preferences => Control surfaces, No Novation Automap appears. I have a MacBook Pro Quad core 2.4 GHz with 8 Gb of ram.
Eric Cardenas
Try installing the latest Automap beta. It is compatible with 10.8: Automap 4.5b1
Eddy J
Problem remains I'm afraid.
Eric Cardenas
Can you see the little A icon on your menu bar without starting Logic?
Eddy J
If I start up the AutomapServer program, I can see the A in the menu bar. It is from there that I select "Software setup". I see Logic as software, Select the SL MK II and follow the steps of the setup, but I have the problem in Step 3 when scanning all models. I see in the popup while scanning the Automap passing by, and also something about Propellerhead, but I don't have the controller in my list afterwards. Eric Cardenas
Try Install instead of choosing Scan All Models. Navigate down to Novation Automap Mixer and press Add. Set its Output/Input port to Novation Automap Mixer.
Eddy J
That's just the problem. It is not listed. Can I add it myself in any way ? Thanks already for the help.
Eric Cardenas
Try uninstalling Automap first. There is an Uninstaller in your Application folder. Reboot. Install the latest beta.
Eddy J
Still the same ...
Eric Cardenas
Hmm... I don't know what else it could be! How are you connecting the SLMk to your Mac? Do you use a USB hub? Is the mac USB3? Have you tried another USB cable?
Glenn L.
FWIW, 4.4 works fine on my ML mini.
Eddy J
SL MK is connected directly into MacBook Pro (no hub) Mac is USB2. USB cable works fine, because I can see the SL MKII being connected to Automap Server. Already deleted Logic & Automap software twice and reinstalled, but still same problem. I added iControl and assigned the ports to Automap Logic Mixer. When a quit Automap while logic is open I get a message "Device “iControl” is assigned to MIDI Port “Automap Logic Mixer” which is not present." When I start Automap server again I get the same message. So in one way or another Logic reacts to Automap. The only problem is that I cannot select the Automap controller from the controller list. Tried the set-up with Ableton Live and this works.
Eric Cardenas
Hi there Eddy! Could you please add your OS version to your signature? Navigate to ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs. Move the .cs file to the desktop and launch Logic. Will this make any difference?
Eddy J
Hi Eric, Don't find the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs, the only one I found was com.apple.RegLogicStudio.plist. There is no .cs file at all in the Preferences. Tried to delete com.apple.RegLogicStudio.plist, but still no luck with the scan all models. Anyway Logic keeps starting up with the latest song I opened, so somewhere a settings file is still active. I installed Logic 9 while Logic 8 was on the Mac already and I have a feeling that this causes the problem. Any ideas are welcome. Eddy.
Eric Cardenas
You are probably looking in the wrong Library folder. ~ means your user folder.
Eddy J
Ok, there I found the file. But deleting it did work no have a clean startup of Logic, but did not do the trick. Still no Novation Automap in the controller list.

Atlas007
Check here (focus on the Automap installation procedure, changing the Ultranova mentions with the SLMkII): http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=87193
Eddy J
Hi Everybody, I got the SL MK II to work with Logic Pro 9 after the help of the Novation Support team. I have to say, they help you 'till you get it up and running. My problem was that the Automap.bundle which is located in the /Library/Application Support/MIDI Device Plug-ins folder did not have the correct access rights. That was the reason why it was not detected when scanning for midi devices in Logic. Giving the admin and everyone Read rights solved the issue. Eddy.
