Pitching one specific note [SOLVED]

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am totally new to Logic and just want to learn how to produce. Now I wanted to make one specific note pitch up like slowly, so I found the pitch shifter 2 plugin but this only pitches the whole note while recording but what I want is to let the note pitch up slowly so I can drop the beat after it pitched for a nice effect.

Any help would be appreciated!

Mo.

You could automate the pitch parameter of the plug-in so it slowly ramps up over time. What instrument are we talking about: an acoustic recording, or a MIDI synthesizer/sampler?

Hi David,

Sorry for not reading the rules. I use logic pro 9.1.7 and I am a newb, I have bought an m-audio axiom 25 and that is how I make my notes. And how do I automate the pitch parameter exactly?

Thanks in advance.

@EricBradly: I am sorry didn't read the whole page. My osx version is mountain lion 10.8.1.

@ROYALEFATALE: Thanks that helped me out a lot, you're awesome!

So thank you all for your help and this topic may get a lock now :)

I doubt that what you're looking for is automation of the pitch-shifter, because I'm fairly sure the pitch-shifter can only be automated in so far as it can be operated manually; that is to say via sequential steps of semi-tones. I mean, you could probably do it using a combination of fine tune automation and semitone automation, but really that's starting to go into silly areas.

I think what someone was talking about in respect of automation is automation of the actual instrument itself, assuming you are using some kind of audio instrument. That is to say automating the pitch of the oscillators, or respective control for some other type of instrument (such as the EXS24 for example). Other options you could try would be to code the pitch-bend range to something like 24 semitones (if possible) and simply bend it. If it's audio, then you're probably better of performing some kind of manual pitch-shift using the Time/Pitch machine.
