pranaearth
Hi everyone, It's been a long time since I've had a problem in Logic. I tried to RTFM, but I can't seem to find a solution. I have my Korg Kronos set up as an external instrument. I can record the MIDI parts and have them play back just fine. However, I'm trying to record automation for the track, using the built in control panel on the surface of the Kronos. When I twist a knob, I can see the correct CC# and values in the Transport bar, so I know Logic is seeing the information. I put my track into one of the 3 automation record modes, hit play, then start to twist away. But none of the automation is being recorded. I feel like I'm missing a crucial step here. Any suggestions? Thanks again for all of your help! P

To records CC's as track automation you'd need to set up a transformer in the environment...but you can record these CC's as region-based automation (hyper draw) by simply pressing record. J. blinkofani
Hi there, What i usually do is duplicate the midi track( alt+ drag the track header section under the original) and record the CCs on another track. Easier to edit afterwards. When i'm sure all is ok, i merge the regions together. But i use external Midi tracks and not the Ext inst plugin, so i don't know if it changes anything. The automation record modes are not for what you're trying to achieve. Blink
Jordi Torres
The automation record modes are not for what you're trying to achieve. But if you want to use track automation for your CC's you can use a transformer in Track automation splitter (true > top cable) mode. J.
pranaearth
Thank you both a thousand times for the help. I thought I'd have to delve into the environment. I'm going to try both ways. Once again, Thanks! P
Jordi Torres
Thank you both a thousand times for the help. You're welcome! I thought I'd have to delve into the environment. You don't have to. Only if you wish to have your CC's as track automation. If you record them to regions the result will be the same. Like blink said, using multiple tracks (New with Same Channel Strip/Instrument command) to record each CC separately is a good idea if you want to keep things neat and more manageable. For example: And after selecting the regions and invoking the Autodefine command (View >Hyper Draw > Autodefine): J.
