mixindixin
hi all, just wondered if there was a quick way to take a stereo track - that was recorded in pro tools - and split it into two mono tracks? cheers, toddd.
David Nahmani
You could simply click-hold the format button at the bottom of the channel strip and choose "Left" so that channel strip only plays the left channel of the stereo file. Then copy the stereo audio region onto a new track and repeat for "Right".
mixindixin
cheers david, i didn't even realise that 'left' or 'right' was an option on that button. the things you learn when you ask! this solution does still require me to use a stereo plug in on both channels though... td. No, by selecting "Left" or "Right", you're creating a mono-input channel strip, so it can take mono plug-ins. If you already have stereo plug-ins inserted, click-hold the plug-in and choose "Mono" to switch it to a mono instance.
