Fran Carpenter
Dear All Could someone tell me how to remove note overlap. I have recorded a violin part, and want it legato but without note overlap, which is how it has recorded at present. Appreciate quick response! Thanks Fran
Frances O
I do this in Score>Functions>Note Events see Pic Hope this helps.

Fran Carpenter
Ah, but is that in score only? I mean when first recording it in a project.
Frances O
Do you mean edit while recording? ie have the program decide where to put a note-off once the next note-on event is triggered, even though you are still holding the previous note and have not yet triggered a note-off? I don't know any easy method for that - some environment programming from an environment guru might provide a solution.
Fran Carpenter
Thanks, Frances, for your reply again. When it is recorded, I am then editing it a bit in piano roll mode. I wondered if there was any easy way of getting rid of notes overlapping, where I have held the keyboard key down too long and it has overlapped the next note. Just wondered if there was an easy way of getting rid of overlaps, rather than having to shorten each one manually?
Frances O
It's the same in Piano Roll Window as Score Window If you have a lot of notes to process and there are no chords - In Piano Roll I would do Control A (select all notes) then Piano Roll>Functions>Note Events>Note Overlap Correction (Selected / Selected). This will process all notes at the same time. Edited September 17, 2012 by Frances O
Eriksimon
There's also ctrl-L (Note Force Legato (selected/selected)). This removes overlaps, and gaps.
Fran Carpenter
That's great, thanks.
hungrydave
Or you could just make the instrument monophonic. If you're using EXS24 there's a button for legato
David Nahmani
If you're using EXS24 there's a button for legato But that would affect how the envelope is triggered, and ultimately how the phrase sounds.
