realist22
i have a bass note that i want to cut so it is less than 1 bar in length, so it finishes before the end of bar 4 and then will not produce a click when i reloop it. i have it set to snap edits to zero crossings... but why wont it let me drag the region length to shorten the bass note even more? i will attach a screenshot. dragging the region length ends is the way to shorten an audio file in the sample editor? realist22
ok i managed to cut it by dragging end of region marker in sample editor. but it is still producing a click but it snap to zero crossings is enabled... so why do i still have a click? i thought snapped to zero crossings means no click is produced? redlogic
If you want it to loop smoothly and not drift out of sync over time, make it EXACTLY one bar (or as many as needed...but EXACTLY). Look at the number at the bottom right of the help tag when you click+hold on the region. It should read x 0 0 0 with no decimal point after the last zero. In the Arrange window, try setting the SPL (Song Position Line) at exactly bar 5, control+click on the region and go to Split > Split by Playhead or use the key command Split Regions/Events by Playhead Position. Delete the extra little bit to the right that was cut. Loop the region and play it back in solo. If it sounds good, you're done. If it clicks, add a short Fade Out to the region until it doesn't click.

Not necessarily. Snapping to zero crossings is ONE way to help with clicking, but it doesn't absolutely guarantee that you won't hear clicks. Furthermore, consider that you may not have any samples on the zero line, so in that case "snap to zero crossing" can only snap to the sample closest to a zero value, but you will still hear a click in most cases. And, that "nearest zero crossing" may not be right on the bar.
