XMaramena
I'm looking at getting a digital control surface (previously used a ProjectMix). I had problems with the master fader on the ProjectMIx, so I was looking at perhaps a Mackie control - I saw there was an 8-track + master that wasn't too expensive, quite taken by that. I do have a thirst for more channels though - Is there a 12 or 16 channel surface that anyone here can recommend? Big requirements for me are motorised faders, backlit display and and full compatibility with Cubase, Logic and ProTools.
Eric Cardenas
You can connect 8-fader extenders to the Mackie. Start with the main unit and ad more faders if you need it.
XMaramena
I didn't know you could get extenders for it. Sounds like a good idea. Most of my music is EDM and commercial synth-based pop, so I'm not too psyched about paying up loads for nice preamps and hardware (that being said, I do bloody love an Avalon 737sp - shall be sure to take an impulse next time I'm in that studio!). Do the extenders tether on USB or FireWire? I'm on a 2011 MBP that has a measly 1 firewire, 1 thunderbolt and i think 2 usb. Would I be able to chain in my profire onto the mackie? In the old studio we had a ProjectMix and a Profire 2626 that were linked together on ADAT... very useful indeed.
