richgilb
A publisher has asked me to supply 2 version of MP3 songs, one at 128kbps and one at 320kbps. When I go to bounce I am faced with choices of bit rates in both stereo and mono. Should both mono and stereo have the same bit rate,? Cheers, Rich
Eriksimon
You really should ask him, but I'm 99.9 % sure he meant both MP3's as stereo, so choose those bitrates for stereo files (2 separate bounces). He should have made it explicit if he wanted mono, since that is unusual. But again, ask him.
richgilb
If you see this screengrab, I am not seemingly choosing mono or stereo for my bounced file, I seem to be choosing a bit rate for both. Why would it ask me for a mono bit rate and a stereo bit rate for the one bounced file, which I hope to be stereo?
Eriksimon
Again, if you are not bouncing mono then that setting is academic/irrelevant. Those two bitrates are always there, but I've never bounced a mono MP3 - the only reasonable scenario for bouncing a mono MP3 is perhaps when it is only spoken word...? And you've been asked for those two bitrates, because 128 is sort of a standard online: it's enough to maintain reasonable playback quality, but not too much to make downloading on a slower connection impossible; where 320 is more of a "hi-res" version. Bottom line: you can forget about that mono bitrate.
