Saving synth parameters data in MIDI performance [SOLVED]

Hi All,

I linked a parameter in ES1 to my midi controller via the (Command+L) and I really need to save the data to the track as it records in midi.

In other words, I am recording a cutoff filter along with midi notes, and the cutoff varies over time, rather than being a flat piece of data.

Any ideas?

Thanks very much in advance!

Hi Eric,

So, while the topic is relatively fresh, how exactly do I configure a knob (I'm actually using the mod wheel) to CC17?

I was thinking that it would be very useful to take a second pass over a track while recording new data (cutoff filters, etc).

So, I've got my composed music, take 1, and for take 2, I want to sculpt the sound quality in real time. What do you think?

Ok. Start by adding your Logic version and system info to your signature: Forum Rules - please READ THIS before posting (#5)

Open up the Environment and navigate to the Click & Ports layer.

Insert a Transformer object between the Physical Input and the Sequencer Input.

In the upper half set the Status to Control and Data Byte 1 to 1.

In the lower half set Data Byte 1 to 17.

Thanks again!!!

I'd just like to add that in addition to setting the ES1 to CC17 (or whichever parameter), it also required me to set the track automation to "touch" before anything would record.

With those two steps in place, I was able to take a second pass over previously composed material and alter different synth settings at that time, on the fly.

In case anybody else is wondering, the ES1 Midi Controller List is located here: http://documentation.apple.com/en/logicstudio/instruments/#chapter=4%26section=8

Ah, cool! Thanks for that file!

That's just because you've hijacked the Modwheel with your MIDI Learn setting in your first post.

Delete that Control from the Controller list.
