Multiple Hyper Editor lanes for same event? [SOLVED]

Hey guys. In the Hyper Editor's default GM Drumkit Hyper set, I'm trying to create multiple Event Definitions for the same drum sound, so I can have a different grid value for each. I select an Event Definition and choose 'create event definition' from the Hyper menu. This duplicates the Event Definition that I had selected - great. However, when I create events in one of their lanes now, these events are created in both lanes - they're not independent of one another. How do I make them independent??

Thanks very much,

David

Hi

Since you have duplicated the Definition, entering an Event on one lane will automatically show the same event in the other lane(s). This may not really matter: you can still have different grid settings for each lane.

You could make the two (or more) definitions only display a specific MIDI channel if you really want, but this might cause other problems instead.

Hmmmmm, ok. For the purposes of having, say, a snare on every second beat, but also snare rolls, I assumed that I could have the events for the snare roll finely created in a lane with a fine grid resolution, and one-shot snares created in another lane and have the lanes only display the events which I create there, so it would make more sense visually, like having the two snares in separate tracks and viewing the MIDI note events separately in two Piano Roll windows. I can still achieve what I'm after, just trying to wrap my head around this!

Cheers for the reply

Basically you can think of each event definition as a mini-MIDI editor. It will display whatever event you wish. However if you set an event definition, to , say, display "D1" on channel 1, then it will display all and any D1 notes you have on MIDI channel 1 in the region.

You could achieve your work flow by using different MIDI channels on the different Event Definitions. On the screenshot below I have the first event definition set to D1 ch 1 and the second one set to D1 ch 2:
