Altering track numbering

I've just added an old Mackie Logic Control surface to my setup with Logic Pro 9.

 

Unfortunately the tracks in my projects are appearing in a weird order on the Mackie. Looks like it's picking them up in "track number" order - that is, by the track numbers appearing under the track name at the bottom of the mixer screen (not the channel strip number or the order I've arranged them in). I can't work out how to change this track number in order to deal with the problem.

 

How do I get around this?

The track numbers change when you change the order of the tracks in the Arrange window.

Not as far as the Mackie is concerned, unfortunately...anyone else had this problem?
