logic pro plug ins

I am new to logic pro and i have an m-audio cheap little strip that i cannot get sound onto logic. i hook up the usb the strip turns on, i plug in my guitar and nothing. i have been at it for a while and am very sure its a simple fix. (unless the interface is bad) This is very frustrating.... can someone point me in the right direction please?

You may need to install a driver from the m-audio website.

The first step is to select your interface from Logic's Preferences > Audio > Devices > Core Audio. If your device does not appear there, then as creationcollective said, first install the driver.
