Changing tempo in a part of the track

Hi All

I have done a recording of my daughter and her friend singing and playing the guitar - and for a first time (for all of us) it isn't too bad. Lot's of learning took place and we'll have another go soon.

Anyway - we did the track in several chunks, and as such the temp varies slightly as Shannon wasn't able to totally match the tempo of the guitar playing. Is there any way I can amend a section of a song - specifically - I wish to slow it down a tad to match the tempo of the parts before and after that section.

Is this possible...? If so, how do I do this please?

Thanks David and Nigel.

Shannon played the guitar part, and because I didn't use a click track and this was laid down first, Shannon had a little difficulty in maintaining the tempo during the takes. There's one resulting section that is a little too fast, but Heather (my daughter) sang her part with too - so I actually need to slow down the middle section of the piece - both parts, voice and guitar. Is the mode you mention David OK for this?

Ah ok I thought you said the vocals needed to be modified to match the guitar...

Well there's going to be no super-easy way to do what you want, you just have to get your hands dirty. You can use the technique Nigel linked to and that's probably the best one, but it's going to be a bit of a learning experience for you if you've never done it before. Best of luck to you and ask any further questions in this thread!

You could do that, yes. But there's no need to place the audio in a new project, you could just cut the middle section, choose a Flex mode for the track, and in Flex view, Option-drag the lower right corner of the middle section to timestretch it. Do this with the overlap mode in Shuffle L so the end region automatically moves to the left to avoid any gaps.
