Rev. Juda Sleaze
Presets are useless, use your ears. Seriously, no-one that makes a preset has ever heard your music. No use at all.
David Nahmani
Honestly those settings are useless anyway. You can't mix and master stuff without listening to it at the same time, and that's what whoever made those settings were doing: adjusting the compressors and EQ etc.. without even knowing what your song sounds like - doesn't make any sense. You'd do yourself a favor in forgetting about presets for mixing and mastering and learn the basics about dynamic processors (compressors, limiters) and EQs. You'll know what you're doing and your results will be much, MUCH better.
rone2him
I find the Match EQ plugin to be a useful tool. I use it on the "Output 1-2 Channel Strip" most of the time. Try out a few of the variety of preset templetes, and then dial in a slight +% to taste with the "Apply slider". For the unenlightened it allows an application of a common but comprehensive curve But really, the above replies are, a students best approach to learning, the applications of EQing, in general
