I/O plug, ping varries

Hello,

 

Currently I use two I/Os on stereo tracks, one for drum buss, one for drum parallel compression. These go out of my converters through compressors and back into same converters. Different compressors though of course.

 

What I am finding weird is the ping can vary by a few samples, sometimes it changes right in front of me if I ping a few times in a row. It ranges from 58 to 63 samples. What do you guys recommend I do with the choice of which offset to use?

 

I think I hear a difference between the different sample offsets but I can't say for sure, could be my brain messing with me.

 

Any thoughts on why the ping would vary in the first place?
