acousticaoc
I have an issue that's gonna be kind of hard to describe but here goes... occasionally, when I open a project that has software instruments and the red R for record is selected, there is a sound like someone pounding repeatedly at a regular interval on a steel box with reverb....and sometimes it's just a dull thumping, depending on which software instrument is chosen...and it goes away when I disarm the track. today, however, I brought up a live audio recording that I did in a club and decided to sweeten it up with some software bass. So I added the track, chose software instrument, the default EVP88 Electric piano was chosen...no noise (Record enabled) - I went to select the bass instrument that I wanted, it loaded it, all of a sudden...'bong bong bong bong bong bong bong!!!!!"..... What am I doing wrong and has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance for your help. ~Andy
acousticaoc
Bringing this to the top...I've noticed that it's not all software instruments that cause this abnormality...but just some. All of my software instruments are native Logic and not third party plug-ins. Appreciate any insight folks might have...
Jordi Torres
Does the problem continue when you unplug your Novation SL 25 MKII or Automap? J.
acousticaoc
I had given up on this problem so my apologies for the late response. Just started Logic up today with a project I was working on when I first started this thread. Not sure if this has anything to do with the problem but if I start Logic first without turning on my Novation board, the problem remains. If, however, I turn on the Novation 49SL MkII and load Automap before I turn on Logic, then the problem seems to go away. Does this make sense to anyone who has read this post? Again, thanks for your help.
acousticaoc
Jordito, thank you for the reply. It does not matter whether or not the Novation SL MkII is connected or not. This issue is very difficult for me to put into words. I can't believe that no one else has experienced something like it and I'm certain it's something that I'm doing wrong. I've tried to record a QuickTime video of what is happening on the screen but cannot get the audio that I'm hearing from Logic into the QuickTime video - even after I choose the Duet as the sound source. This issue is driving me crazy and sucking all of the inspiration out of me. Not sure where else to go for help.
acousticaoc
here's another clue if anyone out there is interested...the problem only arises when I get the following message...and the following message only happens sporadically - as does the original problem. the message is: "Device “HUI” is assigned to MIDI Port “Automap HUI” which is not present." acousticaoc
OK...I think I have this figured out and I'd like anyone to tell me if this makes sense: If I launch Logic Pro 9, it automatically launches Novation's Automap program. When I allow Logic Pro 9 to do that, and the Startup Action in Logic General Preferences is set to "Open most recent project", then the problem exists. IF, however, I launch the Automap program prior to launching Logic Pro 9, and Automap is already running, the problem does not exist. Can someone tell me why this would be? I think this is resolved now but I'm the kind of guy who wants to know why something is happening. thanks for indulging me through this!
SearingSounds
this is happening to me in LPX. Never had this problem in LP9. It has actually gotten worse since I updated to 10.02 It seems to only be happening to Logic's software synths. Specifically the EXS24 and the ES2. iMac 3.4 Core i7 OS X 10.8.4 16 GB RAM Apogee Duet 2 Glyph Portagig 50 Oxygen 61 Presonus Faderport
acousticaoc
Hey Searing, I haven't upgraded yet to LPX but I can say with complete certainty that if I startup in the following order: Turn on Novation Keyboard Launch Automap Launch LP9... The problem does not exist. But you are right, when it does happen it happens with Logic's soft synths only.

I tried starting up Logic without the Faderport on and I had no problems. Hooked up the faderport and problem started. For some reason LPX doesn't like my Faderport. That's too bad because I really like my Faderport.

Looks like the Faderport software hasn't been updated since 2009, that's probably why it doesn't work well with Logic X: J.
SearingSounds
Here is a link http://support.presonus.com/attachments/token/be3guzgbnk53fuw/?name=FaderPort_Logic64.bundle.zip for the new 64 bit bundle for the Faderport. Once downloaded......I had to right click on the LPX app icon and choose "Show package contents" then inside the "contents" folder drop the 64 bit bundle into the "Midi Device Plugins" folder. This solved my problem.
