Time sync two identical audio files

Hi everyone,

 

This may seem like a really basic one, but I cant seem to find the answer and I'm sure logic must be able to do this:

 

I have a sound mix for film project which is almost done, and I have an updated version of one of the audio tracks (altered only in terms of EQ, all timing and content is identical otherwise). At the moment I am importing it onto another track, zooming right in and aligning the new audio to the existing audio by eye, then deleting the old one, which works, however Im sure there must be an automatic way to do this that eliminates any chance of error?

 

Mac OSX 10.6.8, Logic pro 9, 27' imac 2.66 core i5, 12gb ram

What do you mean? Are you moving the file (region) to another track within the same project...or do you mean you're importing the file into a new project?
