MI6ix
Hi How can I get Logic to recognise midi keyboard after plugging in WITHOUT having to restart Logic?
Jordi Torres
MI6ix, What keyboard are you talking about? And why do you have to connect after you open Logic? Please add your Logic version and system info to your signature: Forum Rules - please READ THIS before posting (#5) Thanks. J.
MI6ix
A normal 25 key midi which i sometimes need to plug in when inspiration grabs me, I hate having to restart Logic to get it recognised, my Logic may be open already because I was mixing and had no need for keyboard and may have gone to the kitchen to make a sandwich with it and not wanted to drag a keyboard along. Will add info to sig now cheers.
David Nahmani
A normal 25 key midi Manufacturer? Model? I have worked with many different MIDI Controllers but never stumbled upon one that required Logic to be restarted in order for the keyboard to be detected. Atlas007
AFAIK, Logic will detect incoming MIDI data if your AudioMIDI Setup detect it. Although, I am not sure if it actually interrelated. However, you may expect some quirks or stuck notes when hot-plugging/unplugging... You also could expect popping alerts if a project was saved with a controller that is no longer plugged in... Its the M Audio Oxygen, definitely have to restart Logic with it plugged in to get it working. Tried with others as well.
Mark R
How about 'Reset All MIDI Drivers' A button under the menu 'preferences / midi / general'.

n6smith
You have to restart Logic i suspect, because of how the Oxygen's drivers work.. I think it gets set up as a control surface... and so it is not simply an ordinary midi keyboard... I could be wrong but, I think that makes sense.. based on the couple of times i have used an Client's Oxygen controller...
