Pspiralife
Why is the Latency worse in mainstage 2 than in Logic 9? I've been using a USB keyboard to play live drums in logic for a few years with great results. The latency is far more noticeable in Mainstage Than Logic even though I am using EXACTLY the same channel strip setting from Logic. Also, the Mainstage session I am currently building has 80% LESS, channels, audio, effects, plug ins ect. This does not make sense to me as Mainstage is supposed to be designed exactly for what I'm trying to do. (Playing Live) Where as Logic isn't. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. Pspiralife
Ive just thorouly gone over this article and found the optimal settings. But still it is not as fast as using Logic. Thanks anyway.
Pspiralife
With a Logic Buffer size of 256, the "Resulting output latency" = 8.8 ms & the "Resulting Roundtrip Latency" = 17.6 ms. With a Mainstage 2 Buffer size of 64 the "Current output latency" = 6.6 ms & the "Current output latency" = 11.1 ms ( with the "Driver Latency" Slider set to the left @ 32 Samples. Guess which one ACTUALLY responds faster ..... LOGIC! This does not make any sense! please help! Shammie
hashimoto
...do you have any plugins inserted that cause latency?...e.g. multipressor...these add latency to your general setup...just have a look at the bottom of the channel strip...the extra latency would be displayed there... Pspiralife
To answer your question, sometimes yes and sometimes no. But this is not the point. I've been happy with the lack of latency in logic for over two years, now I want to use the same channel strip settings in main stage. pchanp2808
Well first thought that comes to mind... adjust the buffer size to lower for any kind of play back to where the latency is at least tolerable, and the quality of the sound is not compromised. But if that doesn't satisfy, or there is still a noticeable difference, I can hypothesize: software development for Logic has been happening gradually since the early 90's. Mainstage wasn't created until Apple bought Logic from Emagic and released mainstage in a bundle with Logic 7. We are in version logic 9 now, they've only made a few updates to Mainstage. In my experience, Mainstage can be kinda buggy. But you have to question which application Apple actually takes the most time to improve? The Pro App that's competing with Pro-Tools or the semi-pro add on app that they throw into a bundle as an extra add on? They focus on Logic more. Be sure to stay tuned to more Mainstage/Logic updates so that hopefully they solve any bugs.

bobsbarricades
I'm pretty bummed experiencing he same issues here. I don't know how the heck Trent Reznor uses this guy for ANY audio with latency this bad. No latency free button either. Really frustrated with this same experience. And this is a barebones setup, no plugins running my bass through it. Sad panda
bobsbarricades
So I just found out that the limiter on my out1-2 was adlimiter, not reg. I seem to be much better now. Will report back but latency is t noticeable ATM 2.2ghz C2D 4gb ram Tc electronic konnekt 6 Mainstage @ 64 sample buffer
