Speeding up/Slowing down audio [SOLVED]

I'm a long time Pro Tools user having recently made the jump to Logic for production. Certain audio samples I want to speed up or slow down but still be able to use Flex Time to make them groove perfectly after the fact. Having used the EXS to pitch up samples, once the sample is replayed using the EXS it's then MIDI information and unable to be edited using Flex Time. When using only flex time I can either use "speed" mode to speed up the entire sample, or use the "slicing" mode to edit the groove of the audio, but not both at the same time. Lastly, I can use a pitch plug in to pitch up audio, but not actually speed up audio. I'm looking for a solution to both speed up my audio as well as be able to groove edit using flex time after having sped up the audio. I've found similar questions on the net and even this particular forum, but no answers whatsoever. Is there really no way to do this in Logic?

Flex is all you need to speed up/slow down audio, AND change its groove. There's no need to use the Speed mode, you can use monophonic or polyphonic depending on the material. You can use the marquee tool in Flex view to select a portion of the waveform and reposition it without affecting its pitch in order to change the groove.

You mention the EXS... but that will also affect the pitch of the sample. Is that what you want?

Yes, I do want to effect the pitch of the sample. The best way I can describe it (even though this is not what I'm going for) is Kanye West's early 00's style of speeding up soul samples. I'm not looking to speed up samples of Chaka Khan but the process for doing so would be the same.

Thanks David, I really appreciate it man. I tried this and it did work. I was also introduced to another method by a friend of mine. You can use the Time & Pitch machine plug in which is only accessible (to mine and my friend's knowledge) through the sample editor window under the factory tab. Then, after setting the plug in to classic mode, you're able pitch the audio up or down while determining the resulting BPM.
