MIDI randomly cuts out

Hey guys,

I was messing around with Logic today and for some reason, my MIDI will cut out.

I first started with a software instrument and the sound was playing fine.

I then created another software instrument and all of a sudden, when i press the MIDI keyboard, no sound will come out...What is going on?

My only fix to this problem is restarting my computer which is a pain in the ass/really annoying....

THanks for the help

1. record mode was enabled

2. no tracks were solo'd or muted

3. solo mode was not on

4. Do you mean, was it showing any levels on the output? If so, it was at the beginning and then it stopped

5. I was able to open up Massive separately and sound was coming out.

I will try and replicate the problem and make a video

Here is a video recording. please excuse the crappy audio....

As you can see, right when the video starts you can see the volume meters reacting to when I play on the MIDI keyboard (if you turn the volume up, you can hear the actual notes).

I then play the little 8 bar loop I made and play on the MIDI keyboard afterwards; sound is still coming out, MIDI is being received.

THEN, I go down to the instrument track and play some notes on the EVP....MIDI is still working...

All of a sudden at around :29-:30, sound stops. I am playing on the keyboard but nothing is coming through.

Also at the bottom transport bar it says "No In/No Out"....

I try changing the synth but still nothing

Why is this happening? what can I do to fix this?

Also, I can redo the video with better audio if needed.

Thanks

Yes, that's the "monitor" i was referring to. I can't explain that behavior just from watching that video. What's that black pop-up dialog at 0:46 on the lower right corner?

If you can attach the project file, I could give it a go. Also, you can try a separate MIDI monitor app to see if your system interface is still receiving MIDI when this problem occurs: http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/

that little pop up at :46 is just the Automap Program that came with my MIDI keyboard. Its basically saying that the MIDI controller is changing from controlling Massive to controlling the new instrument I just switched to.

Also, call me a complete idiot but I couldn't figure out how to download that MIDI monitor app....

Attached the project file as well

I wonder if that has anything to do with it, since your MIDI flow cut out at about the same time the dialog appeared.

Just click on the Download link.

Attached the project file as well

Everything works fine here.

Yes.. I suspect this is an Automap issue... when it was changing from controlling Massive to the New instrument..

I don't think you can do so "on the fly' so to speak... with Automap without there being a Midi Glitch of some kind at times...
