Help with orchestral template and stems

Hello everyone -

First, sorry for the long post - I'll try and keep it as short as I can. I have thrown together my workflow over the last couple years without much thought and looking to revamp/rework for more efficient and better results. Using Logic 9, I do mostly synth/orchestration.

I was reading these posts over at VI-Control.net, and still a bit confused at the best way to do this.

Here is currently how I do my strings.

LASS Sections --> Sub-Strings buss --> Stereo Out

............... ................... ... |

.......... ...................... (via send)

..... ....... ....... ........ ....... . |

..... ......... ......... ..... Front Reverb buss --> Stereo Out

Other sections, the same way, each going to their own "sub" buss, feeding reverb via sends (either Front, Middle, Rear) which in return all feed to the Stereo out. After I mix, I do a Bounce in Logic, finished stereo audio track. If I want just strings, I mute all other sections, bounce again. Same with winds....

After reading above posts, I want to add audio channels to record each section. So I replaced going to Stereo out with

an audio channel. But I don't get my fx this way. So I send fx to the audio channel too. But if that channel isn't in record, I don't hear the section. Also, what if I want piano to go the back reverb along with the brass, but want them on different audio tracks, I can't do that.

Am I making this too complicated? Can you help me figure this out?

Thanks

k
