Macavity224
For some reason, Logic is not allowing me to assign a key combination to open the automation event list. I hold down the key combination, click "Learn new assignment," then the controller assignments screen pops up for some reason and still won't receive the key command. When I click "Learn mode" or "Learn new assignment," the command just goes away. The most confusing part is that some commands will accept new assignments, but others won't. David Nahmani
Are you trying to assign a function to a MIDI controller? Or to keys on your computer keyboard? I hold down the key combination, click "Learn new assignment," You should click "Learn New Assignment" first, then press the button on your MIDI Controller. For keys on your computer keyboard, click "Learn by Key Label" instead.
Macavity224
Trying to set up keyboard commands, sorry, should have specified. It works when I assign a command to a single key, but the problem is that I can't assign a multiple-key command (like shift + whatever). Is there a way to do this that I'm missing? Thanks for the help
David Nahmani
It's the same: select a function, click "Learn by Key Label" then press Shift-A for example, then close the key command window.
Macavity224
Got it. What I was originally trying to do was assign functions to the FN key, but I guess that doesn't work. I figured out another key combo instead. Thanks!
David Nahmani
Assigning function keys to commands is not a problem, it works as expected. Just make sure your F keys are actually sending Fn key messages and not the secondary uses (speaker up/down, light up/down etc...). You can adjust that in your system preferences > Keyboard.
