Electric guitar sounds

Hi all. I have been very unhappy with my electric guitar sound when recording at home. I have a Fender Jazz Master running dry through a MOTU Audio Express into Firewire 800. It seems no matter what amp designer sounds I use my final sound still sounds very raw. Any thoughts on the matter?

"Raw"...as in all the different amp models sound the same/have no effect/sounds like a straight DI?

 

What exactly do you mean by "raw"?
