JCDeen
I've been using Logic the last few months to make very simple recordings and to use for keyboard practice. I'm using a Yamaha CP-88 stage piano as a midi controller and piano. So far, it's been really smooth up until yesterday. Whenever I would play the piano, I'd have full sensitivity in the keys, but now there is no change in velocity irregardless of how much pressure I put on the keys. In the piano roll, on previously recorded tracks, I can see the color changes, meaning the notes are of differing velocity, but when I play it back, it's really choppy and ever note is the same volume. What setting am I missing to make it go back to normal? thanks!
David Nahmani
Hello JCDeen, and welcome to Logic Pro Help. What instrument are you using? I mean that track that has the MIDI notes on it, what is it assigned to: a software instrument channel strip? If yes, what instrument is inserted on that channel strip, and what setting are you using? Some settings are not "velocity sensitive" meaning they don't care what velocity the MIDI note that reaches them is, they'll trigger the same sound anyway. If you tell us which instrument/setting we may be able to tell you how to make them velocity sensitive.
JCDeen
alright, so bear with me. I am a complete newbie when it comes to this stuff. I mean that track that has the MIDI notes on it, what is it assigned to: a software instrument channel strip? If yes, what instrument is inserted on that channel strip, and what setting are you using? All that is Greek to me. I'm not entirely sure I understand what you mean. here's a screenshot, if that helps. I'm using the same settings (at least I think so) that I used when making this recording: I just can't seem to figure what settings I changed. edit: how do I change my password? Eriksimon
All that is Greek to me. I'm not entirely sure I understand what you mean. You really should learn some basic Greek then. And how can you not be sure you understand? You seem to be pretty sure you don't, unless your Greek is actually fluent. Anyway, enough "Sheldoning" for now. Here's a first Greek lesson:
David Nahmani
how do I change my password? Click the User Control Panel button at the top left of the forum. Then choose Overview > Profile and then from the 2nd menu next to it choose Edit Profile > Edit Account Settings. Also please do not use 3rd party services such as igmur to attach your images: use our own "Upload attachment" feature (at the bottom of the post box) so that we can ensure the attachments are hosted on our servers and therefore are never lost (which is always an annoying issue with forums). Thanks!
David Nahmani
I listened to your YouTube video and it sounds like there' no velocity sensitivity (all notes sound like they have the same volume)? So that could be in the patch. I wish your screenshot was wider so I could see which patch is selected in the Library. That could explain the problem. Another thing to check would be the track settings: In the left column where it says "EVP88 Electronic Piano", click the little disclosure triangle in front of that text to open your track settings. Make sure the velocity parameter is set to 0 (meaning you don't see any value in front of the "Velocity:" parameter).
JCDeen
welp, thanks for the help. This is weird, but looks like it's resolved on it's own. Now when I open it up, everything is back to normal...
