When i record one track of audio its in time but each sucessive audio track is more and more out of time....actually coming in earlier than it should. Any ideas out there? David Nahmani
Check your recording delay in Preferences > Audio. It should be set to zero.
johnwaxie
It is on zero. Ive tried experimenting with that too......recording the metronome with a mic then ajusting it according to the difference ...but like i said the amount of time the track is out by gets earlier every audio track i record. Jordi Torres
What audio interface are you using? Please add your Logic version and system info to your signature: Forum Rules - please READ THIS before posting (#5) Have you tested with the computer's built-in audio card to see if the problem also occurs with it? johnwaxie
Not sure how to add my system details.....ill check it out after....but im using a fireface 800. Ill check out how logic works through the internal sound card.
Jordi Torres
Not sure how to add my system details If you click the link I'll post it you'll see another link to get to your signature page. Thanks! Let us know how it goes with the internal sound card. J.
johnwaxie
I tried the internal sound card. Recorded a bass drum off my keyboard...4 on the floor along with the metronome. Then recorded a snare, tom and whistle on succesive tracks all on the same beat as the bass drum but same results...for every track recorded the recording comes in earlier and earlier. David Nahmani
Are you using software monitoring? Under Preferences > Audio: is "software monitoring" selected? If you deselect it, can you still hear the instrument you're recording during recording?
johnwaxie
Yeah im using software monitoring. But ive recorded using monitoring straight from the fireface and turning off software monitoring and same thing happens. Is it not weird that the recordings get earlier instead of later? David Nahmani
It is weird.... don't know what else to say.. sounds like an issue with your driver maybe. Do you have the latest driver for your system? Can you try to use another interface to see if the problem disappears?
johnwaxie
The driver i have is for a ppc mac. I got it off an older rme site. Thanks for the help anyway.
David Nahmani
Ok but it may not be their latest ppc driver? I would contact them and ask them (RME).
johnwaxie
Did some research last night on forums and saw someone mention something about audio being out of sync and plug in delay compensation......basically that if its on while recording it can cause audio to be out of sync. I reset my preferences and noticed that the plug in delay in reset mode was set to audio and instruments. Got in late just now from a gig and did a quick experiment...i turned off the plug in delay compensation then used a mic to record the metronome from the speakers. I recorded 6 tracks of it.....and they look and sound in unision. None of the tracks seemed to be coming in early. Ill do a proper recording 2moro and fingers crossed it was the plug in delay compensation causing trouble.
johnwaxie
Yep.....it was the plug in delay compensation turned on while recording. Solved.
