Trilian editing basics -- pitch bend duration?

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping someone here is familiar with Spectrasonics Trilian, but maybe my question is universal enough that editing any synth would be the same.

After a bit of a struggle, I've got Trilian loaded on my G5 and am ready to start working with it. I've been through the Trilian online manual and videos, and hacked all the editing controls, but can't achieve the effect I'm looking for. I've loaded a track with the "Jaco Fretless Gliss Up" patch, which bends a note a full step higher. The default sound, however, is a bend that's too fast for the effect I'm looking for. I'd like to slow down the bend so it's more of a lazy glide.

Can I alter this parameter, or am I stuck within the confines of the original voicing? I must admit, with all the hacking I did pushing buttons and moving sliders, I didn't always notice much change. The manual isn't always of great help. and I think assumes a basic understanding of softsynths, which I don't have, but maybe what I want to know has nothing to do with this anyway?

Thanks!

by the sounds of it you are looking for the PORTAMENTO control... that control how fast something bends its pitch. keep in mind i've never used Trillian, it could be phrased differently on the synth. or it could be an envelope attached to the pitch and you may want to extend the attack or decay of the pitch envelope. let me know if those work.

Thanks, apolychr -- I can't remember seeing portamento, but I'll look. What I actually did in the meantime was to take the legato patch on a separate track and MIDI pitch bend, but that's time consuming and doesn't give the precise results I'm looking for. So much to learn about Trilian -- they almost need a school to teach people all the features...
