How to Copy/Paste or Move a Comped Take Folder? [SOLVED]

I'm sure I'm missing something.

How do I take a fully comped take folder from chorus 1, for example, and duplicate the identical take folder (already comped) and locate it at chorus 2?

For that matter, perhaps I don't want to duplicate it, but simply move it to chorus 2. Similar question.

I certainly can do this with a simple non-comped take (region) but not once I've got multiple takes inside a take folder.

Thanks for your help.

So... export to a new track? Then I can't get it back on the track (channel strip) it came from (at chorus 2 in my example) without the same "strangeness"?

I mean, sure, i could simply play the comped track and record it as a single track (no comp) to another track (channel strip) where it would be at the same spot (chorus 1). Then I could move that region anywhere, including back onto the original track.

That would work, I suppose, but there are subtleties in comping that I might wish to use in chorus 2. For example, I might want the track to be slightly different. In chorus 1, I took from takes 1, 2 and 4, while in chorus 2, I might want 1, 3 and 4.

So, yeah, I could "un-comp" chorus 1 to be portions 1, 3 and 4, record or export, and then re-comp chorus 1 back to 1, 2 and 4. Pretty darn tedious.

Hoping for another possible method.

Why not simply export it to a new track first? I prefer to not move take folders, sometimes all sort of strangeness (regions all going to the wrong places for no apparent reason) can ensue when messing with the position of a take folder.

I've had this same problem when trying to move take folders...all sorts of strangeness occurs. Is this a bug within Logic?

I use the following method to do what you are talking about.

Duplicate the track that contains the comped takes, select the comped region, paste into new track. Mute the original. Copy/Paste Chorus 1 to Chorus 2 position in the new track. Open the comp folder to re-adjust your markers.

As far as moving them around, I use the same procedure and copy the comp folder to the duplicate track at the position I want it to land.

I have never had any problem with either of these methods. And if Logic decides to freak out, at least you still have the original to work off of.

Once I get it where I like it, comped the way it should be and all sounding good, I usually bounce in place so theres a new audio file to hold on to my edits.
