JoeyLoax
i can't figure out how to use sound font. i have a macbook pro and i am working with logic. i know the process of importing it into exs24 but it doesnt work. i think i need to download software because I have the sound font file on my desktop. i double click it and i get a pop up that says The document "freedrumkits.net- alexchoir.sf2 could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized. What does this mean? and also the icon for the soundfont looks like a quicktime logo and says M4P. does anyone know whats going on? Jordi Torres
Looks like there's a problem with that file. I tried to open it in EXS24 and also Plogue's free soundfont player (Sforzando) and they both failed to open it. Other files from that website (for example: http://www.freedrumkits.net/sound-fonts/choirs/704-heaven-choir-soundfont) open fine. J.

JoeyLoax
yea but i think it might have something to do with my mac and not logic which means i might have to find a mac forum to ask. but when i get the pop up message it also says " To see if additional software is available that will enable QuickTime Player to open the movie, click Tell Me More." i click tell me more and it brings me to this page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3775?viewlocale=en_US does this make sense? or should i try to ask this question on a mac forum. thanks
Jordi Torres
or should i try to ask this question on a mac forum. That shouldn't be necessary, but you definitely need to provide more information about your setup for us to help you further. Please add your Logic version and system info to your signature: Forum Rules - please READ THIS before posting (#5) but when i get the pop up message it also says " To see if additional software is available that will enable QuickTime Player to open the movie, click Tell Me More." What pop up message are you talking about. When do you get this pop up message...when doing what? J.

Jordi Torres
And the pop up message I am talking about is the message that comes up after I double click on the soundfont icon on my desktop. Right, you can't open files by double clicking unless you have a program in your system that can open the file. The EXS24 needs to import the soundfont file. J. JoeyLoax
yup, i was confused by the message I got when I double clicked and since I never used sound fonts before I wasnt exactly sure how to import but a lot of trial and error and victory! I just basically followed all the correct steps I was supposed to and it finally worked. The pop up message is what really threw me off. but anyway, thanks for the help.
