syncsailor
I'm a bit out of my normal waters here, but could someone suggest some sample packages for the ESX24 that would be useful on a modern dancepop project... for something along the lines of Katy Perry, Pink, Calvin Harris, Maroon 7, etc.? PS - And please don't go "ugh". I have enough of those coming from my own mind for all of us. Just need some straightforward advice. thanks. syncsailor
OH yeah! I'm looking for one-hits, not loops.
Eriksimon
PS - And please don't go "ugh". I have enough of those coming from my own mind for all of us. Well, maybe it's you who shouldn't go "ugh" then... I'll go instead. Anyway... If you could be a bit more specific in what you want, that would help - it's hardly doable for any of us to secondguess all of the instruments used on all their tracks by those bands and artists you listed. Also, Logic/EXS24/Jam Packs have quite a lot of "pop instruments", basses, synths, drums, electric and acoustic pianos, organs, synthesizers. Komplete is an obvious choice. http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/?category=1649 The one thing Logic misses is a good Strummed Guitar instrument. http://www.musiclab.com/ http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/producer/powered-by-kontakt/scarbee-funk-guitarist/ Also worth looking at: http://www.soundsonline.com/Fab-Four But, it all really depends on how and why you are going to use/need them. Or: what are your "normal waters"?
syncsailor
I'm very sorry. I thought I was being specific but I just looked back and realized that I accidentally omitted the one thing I was talking about. It is one-hit dance pop DRUM samples that I am looking for. Didn't mean to cause you extra work. But thanks.
Eriksimon
OK, drums. Are you looking for 3rd party packs, or do you also mean those in Logic? I would say almost all of the Logic drum samples are useful in that context. Also, the Abbey Road Drums series by NI is very nice, very lively (realistic) samples. http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/producer/powered-by-kontakt/abbey-road-drummer-series/ Not EXS24 though, but it comes with Kontakt player. If you're looking for more "sequenced" type drummachine like style drums, try UltraBeat.
xpander
The market is totally flooded with drum sample packs. It's up to you to check out some audio demos from reputable online retailers such as http://www.loopmasters.com , http://www.soundstosample.com , http://www.timespace.com , etc. Another option is to scour http://www.kvraudio.com for free sample packs. But frankly, Logic has a decent amount of drum kits that would suit well for Pop music. You may need to do some layering or extra processing to dial in your own vibe. But it's time-consuming tasks like these that give you the opportunity to build tracks from the bottom up that can sound similar to a lot of pop music but with your own unique twist. Good luck. - xpander
alex_l
Wave Alchemy - http://www.wavealchemy.co.uk/ - have some excellent libraries. They are well priced and they fit equally well into pop style tunes as more dancefloor oriented stuff. I have some and highly recommend them. There is loads of stuff in the Komplete bundle or Maschine that may suit your needs too (the problem there is usually too much choice!) For 'real' drum sounds I would also suggest looking at AcousticSamples - http://www.acousticsamples.net/ - again, they are not particularly costly
xpander
^ I agree. Last year I invested in Wave Alchemy's Everything Bundle and still have much more than I'll need for quite a while. - xpander
