yiannisel
Hey guys, I'd appreciate any input on this. I'm trying to set up a Logic/Mainstage combination to enable a more on-the-spot control of parameters so that I can perform and alter my projects live. I'm using a combination of Korg nanoKontrol2 and nanoPad2. I'm wondering whether I can have the knobs/sliders controlling parameters of more than one instrument and effects at the same time. For example can I have a knob to control the cutoff of ES2, the one next to it to affect the delay of another instrument, and each pad to generate a different instance of loopback/playback etc. Or im i necessarily restricted to the mode/instrument that i have selected? And if that is possible, can i have multiple 'banks' on my controller surface each one having a completely different set of such assignments? A further question i have is, how about macroknobs? I've seen a feature being used on Ableton - called Beat Repeat Street i think - where you can assign one knob to control multiple parametres that u have chained together (for example simultaneously control various effects of different channel strips). Is there a way around this in Logic? Environment would be the way i guess. Thanks
thalund
Hi i can answer some of you questions. >I'm wondering whether I can have the knobs/sliders controlling parameters of more than one instrument and effects at the same time. Yes. On a given MS patch each control can connect to any parameter in all instruments and effects of that patch. In MS2 you can have the same slider controlling multiple parameters. You can also make global assignments that will work across all patches. Reg. question about "Banks", depends of the controller. 1. Setting up MS so the MikroKontrol Track buttons will skip through MS Patches 2. dublicating the ms patches, and let them differ in setup and assignments to suit your need //rene
yiannisel
Trying to map my nanokontrol2 and nanopad2 and set up a basic template. Till now I have some questions, if anyone has encountered a solution.. 1. i dont seem to manage to get the nanopad2 to trigger the sequences saved in ultrabeat. instead the pads just play the individual sounds. 2. Is there a way to switch between different scenes (different mapping settings on the nanokontrol2) but within the same Patch? Because as I understood, a patch is an individual song and i want to be able to have lets say different scenes of the nanokontrol2 each one affecting the effects of one instrument. 3. Has anyone encountered a template for MS and nankontrol2/nanopad2? I can only find stuff for the 1st version
yiannisel
Btw, I can trigger the sequencer using a keyboard that has keys that go down to C-1 but the nanopad2 seems to start from C1 and i cant figure out how to change that
Doug Z
You can shift the pitch coming into an UltraBeat plug-in. Select the channel strip, go to the inspector>MIDI input>transpose text field. Enter -24 and that should do it for you.
