uncle808us
Is there a way to map the drums in Ultra Beat to the GM kit mapping? for instance: Kick drum midi note 35 B0 below C1 etc. I don't see Ultra Beat going below C1 for the Kick. or above B2 for anything. Just hoping. The reason is I'd like to use the multi out in Ultra Beat for imported .mids using the GM Drum map. instead of the Garageband Pop Kit which as far as I can figure out has no multi out. Thank you.
David Nahmani
Notes below C1 in Ultrabeat are reserved for pattern triggering. Only C1 and up can play notes in Ultrabeat. You could use a mapped instrument to remap the notes before they reach Ultrabeat.

uncle808us
Well from what I read it's mind boggling. I think this is a bit more difficult for my understanding at the present time. I have iDrum (AU) which is multi out. I mapped it for the GM Kit from Guitar Pro and other GM kit midi files. It took me from 8pm to 3am and a couple of hours this morning but, now I have a GP/GM kit for logic. Which is multi out. I would like to use Ultra Beat but can't easily. I don't understand why everyone cannot get together and agree on the same voices/notes for all drum machines. The guys who made logic must have known that someone would be importing .mid files that would include GM kit voicing might want to use UltraBeat to play these files. Oh well that's enough of my whining. Thanks
David Nahmani
It's really not difficult. Create the mapped instrument. Drag and drop it onto a track header in the Arrange area: that track is where you have your MIDI regions with your GM Drum programming. Cable the mapped instrument into the software instrument channel strip where you've inserted Ultrabeat. Now in the mapped instrument window, choose the destination MIDI Note for each incoming MIDI Note. For example "Kick 2" is sound #18 in Ultrabeat and is triggered when you send UB a F2 MIDI Note. Let's say you want that note triggered when you press B0 on your keyboard. You map it like this:
uncle808us
Thanks I will try this when my head stops spinning. (Kidding)
David Nahmani
Just try the instructions I gave you, and if you don't get the result wanted ask again here. There's no reason you shouldn't achieve what you want.
uncle808us
Once I get this done can it be saved so I can reload it when ever I need it? Thanks I will try this.
David Nahmani
It's saved when you save the project, so you could save it as a template - so all new projects started from that template will have that mapped instrument included. You could also import it into another existing project.
