Set up Feedback

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

Attached are the pictures of the current Set up i am with. As you can see, the table is fairly small, they are pretty close to my ears. Reason why ive kept them so close to me is because the Right speaker is in corner. Ive made sure that it forms a proper Triangle, which is about 16 inches on each sides.

As you already would have guess it right, they are Yamaha HS80m. They have this "Control Room" feature which lets you compensate for the exaggeration in bass caused by walls. You can put it to either -2db or -4db depending upon how far you are from the wall. As of now, ive put it to -2db just to start off with.

Though i dont really see whats wrong with it as of now, it would be nice if you guys could point out potential improvements.

EDIT: Guys the best I can do as of now is buy Monitors stands. This will let me place the monitors on about 1.3 meters from the walls ( i can sit on the bed, and form the equilateral traingle then) Do you think that would help in anyway? Also, the floor of the room is plain marble, do you think it could give some issue?

If you could just have a quick view of the video. As you can see the speakers are placed on corners, I agree they are quite at a distance from the sitting point. But how does that not mess with the low end? I dont see any absorbers in the room nor any bass traps, Only the stands where they are placed on ( which i hear can absorb frequencies).

Thanks. Also, i have seen a lot of set ups online where they have placed the monitors facing straight as opposed to the 60 degree theory. What is the difference?

Monitors pointed toward your ear will generate their whole frequency response. As you slowly angle them away from your ears, you're losing high frequency content.

But how does that not mess with the low end?

I'm pretty sure they do - the way they are placed in that video, the low frequency content is probably suffering from pretty major build-up issues.
