dpickell
Hi - is there a way to add 2 nodes in identical position to a region without cutting the region and using the 'create two nodes at region borders' key command? - Dave
Eric Cardenas
With the Arrow tool hold dow Shift and Option. Drag a the smallest vertical line you can. Voila.

dpickell
Eric, your tip is great, and not in the manual right? Wicked. Use it all day long now.
David Nahmani
Dave, what do you use this technique for? Personally what I use the most is the Marquee tool: drag the Marquee to select a portion of waveform, or Option-click a region with the Marquee to select the whole region, then drag the automation line within the marquee selection up or down to adjust its level. That creates 4 nodes at the selection borders, which is very useful to me... hopefully it helps you too.
Artlowell
I think I have a new favorite key command. This is a great one!
dpickell
Not a marquee tool guy so far, will try that and hope that work process gets feelin right. I use the 'two nodes on either side of an event within a region' for drawing automation to boost or cut syllables in a vocal , for example. David Nahmani
Yeah I use the Marquee for that. It took me a while to get used to the Marquee but I can't stop using it now. My toolset is the default [left-click = Pointer, command-click = Marquee] and I can do just about everything I need to do without ever switching to another tool. For your application, I command-drag the section I want to lower/raise and drag it up/down:
dpickell
I'll take your advice and see if I can embed that tool in my work process. Why not! Thx, Dave
dpickell
Quick followup: my 94 tracks mix (!!) is going well, got the marquee tool on key comand "U" and pointer next to it on "Y" so I can bang bang surround areas and raise-lower level. Old dog, new trix! thanks a lot.
David Nahmani
got the marquee tool on key comand "U" and pointer next to it on "Y" FWIW the default toolset allows you to have the Pointer by default and the Marquee by pressing Command, which I personally find easier than switching tools with key commands. So basically • Click/drag = Pointer • Command-click/drag = Marquee
dpickell
Yo, that seems better for a new marquee convert. Thanks! Dave

camillo jr
Another vote for the Command-click Marquee tool and it was David who got me using it! It's great for automation duties as well as slicing regions, highlighting sections for copying, and more. VERY handy. Oh, and you can also create 4 nodes at a region's boundaries if you add the Option key and click on the top of the region, then drag up or down. Zassimo
I also thumbs up the command-click marquee tool! Thanks David!
David Nahmani
You're welcome guys, the Marquee is truly a great multi-function tool, and I've grown to love it. Note that you can also use arrow keys and Shift-arrow keys to snap the marquee selection to transients (audio region) or Note start/end (MIDI region). you can also create 4 nodes at a region's boundaries if you add the Option key and click on the top of the region ... Option-Marquee click anywhere in the region.

Needs a later version?
David Nahmani
I have no problems doing it here in Logic 9.1.5. Option-click the Marquee anywhere on the region, whether the Marquee is my left click or command-click tool (in which case I Command-Option-click), etc....
