Jope
Hi all, NI sells their Reaktor for 99€ istead of 399€ until June 20th... At least in Germany. I had been waiting for this occasion... BTW although the system requirements only mention OS X 10.7 or 10.8, it seems to run well on 10.6.8. Have a nice time!
David Nahmani
Wow, great deal. It's also valid here in the U.S. http://www.native-instruments.com/en/specials/freedom-of-sound/

xpander
What's also great is that you can now purchase Reaktor-based instruments such as Razor, Skanner XT, Reaktor Prism, Reaktor Spark, The Mouth and the Finger at 50% off... which is an awesome deal. Those synthesizers are incredibly powerful. So take the time to learn them and you'll get amazing sounds and textures. If you're the kind of person that prefers to learn from video tutorials rather than PDF manuals, I would suggest investing in a couple of videos from groove3.com . Go to http://www.groove3.com/str/native-instruments-training-videos/ to see what they offer. You can also find more in-depth video tutorials from http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorials/native+instruments-suite One other option for some free tutorials can be found at http://www.nireaktor.com Justin click on the "Tutorials By Product" and you'll find info on some of the Reaktor-based synths and effects. Their sister site http://adsrsounds.com/product-category/presets/ has a lot of ready-made presets and patches if you'd like to learn how to reverse engineer complex sounds. There is nothing wrong with starting out with pre-made patches and altering them to get the sounds you're after. Good luck. - xpander
iMacCartney
I'm not familiar with Reaktor so I listened to demos and my feeling was that it's for "electronic" music? Or does it offer something for the traditional vintage guy like me?
Jope
I'm not familiar with Reaktor so I listened to demos and my feeling was that it's for "electronic" music? Or does it offer something for the traditional vintage guy like me? Maybe it does, but you won't profit by Reaktor too much if you are not interested in working "under the hood". Audio demos will hardly give you real insights to what this monster can do, but the point is, Reaktor mainly exploit its strengths when you are after building your own synths. It is so to speak a synthesizer construction kit. There are many ready-made constructions available out there - maybe you should try to find out more about these, but to me the freedom of sound design is the most important point. iMacCartney
Thanks Jope. I was just watching some video tutorials in youtube and they were all about making your own sounds and instruments. So no thank you, I'm not instrested in that. Actually I didn't remember this before but I have Komplete Elements (bought some day to get the Vintage drums) and some free reaktor factory selection already. Maybe it's time to test those now.
