JetLab
I was tracking drums using 8 tracks yesterday. After each song I did a "save as" and renamed then I would go back and delete the tracks and start a new song then "save as" rename and track another song. I know now this is NOT a good work flow to use. When I went back to listen to the various songs I tracked there was no audio in the tracks. Then I went to re record the songs and could not get any audio on the tracks. What am I doing wrong? I made a template and after using the above mentioned workflow I found that the template I had saved was unable to produce any audio on the tracks when I tried recording. I could very much use some help here. Your responses are greatly appreciated.
David Nahmani
Hi Jetspeed, good to hear from you! When you deleted the audio from the tracks, did you get an alert like this? When I went back to listen to the various songs I tracked there was no audio in the tracks. Are the audio files still listed in the Bin (Media area, to the right of the Arrange area)? Is there an exclamation mark (!) next to the file(s)? Do you get an alert when opening those projects?
JetLab
Hey David, I did not get the Delete window you are referring to. I'm going to go check the bin right now.
JetLab
Pop up when opening the project Here is a SS of a pop up I get when opening the project and another SS of my bin when the project is open. SS of Project Bin
David Nahmani
Ok now let's try to locate the first missing file, Kick#24.aif: In your Logic title bar you have a grayed out Logic project icon and the name "JBL Keep Away - Arrange". Option-click the icon: you'll see a pop-up menu with the file hierarchy leading to that Logic Project. Select the first folder containing your project: the folder below the name of your project in the menu. Does that folder have an audio file folder? Is the file in it? JetLab
Yes it does.
David Nahmani
Awesome! So now open the project, when you get the alert that's in the screenshot you posted, click "Locate" and point Logic to the location where you've found Kick#24.aif. If the other missing audio files are in that same location, Logic will find them too.
JetLab
okay, I think I tried that but perhaps I didn't point it in the correct location. My other questions are: What did I do to create this and how can I avoid this in the future? Thanks David. As always your prompt help and commitment to service is impeccable. JetLab
This is the window I have after directing the project location upon opening. I'm a unsure what to do from here. Do I have to select each file one by one or what? What do I do?
David Nahmani
This is the window I have after directing the project location upon opening. Wait - I don't see Kick#24.aif in there?
