oldcedar
Newby to Logic Pro, but not to recording on computers. Multi Mac platforms. This one is 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB Ram 1600 MHz, running OS 10.8.4.m Running Logic Pro 9.1.8. I want to record 2 separate tracks from 2 separate Mics [shure 58s] simultaneously. I have the Mics directly connected via XLR - USB. Logic Pro says I can I can do this but require 2 different sources. Mac Standard Sound only allows 1 at a time. I have a Tascam US -122L but no driver. Any suggestions?
David Nahmani
I have a Tascam US -122L but no driver. First download and install the driver: http://tascam.com/product/us-122l/downloads/ Then in Logic, click the Preferences icon at the top left and choose Audio. Make sure your input/ouptut devices are set to the Tascam. Then create two audio tracks, and for each track select the input where each mic is connected on your Tascam. For example if you've connected the mics to inputs 1 and 2 then set track 1 to input 1 and track 2 to input 2.
oldcedar
David thanks but, the logic did not fit the reality. Did as you described with the driver, selected the US-122L in the , and plugged in the Mics only to see Logic pro put both channels into the same track. Instead of separating the channels, it combined them so the track shows "Input 1-2" on both tacks. Neither "Input 1" nor "input 2" can be selected for either channel. And if Sound input is not selected to the US-122L in the System Preferences it cannot be selected at all. Is there something I missed?
David Nahmani
the track shows "Input 1-2" on both tacks. Neither "Input 1" nor "input 2" can be selected for either channel. You want to create MONO tracks: - click the "+" button at the top of the track list. - to create both tracks at once, use the following settings:
oldcedar
Thanks that did it!!! Is it equally as straight forward if I wanted to add a 4 or 8 input mixer? I have not found that type of instruction in the user manual yet. Is there another resource?
David Nahmani
A mixer? Well, you have a mixer in Logic, so you shouldn't need to add yet another mixer. But anyway if you wanted to add 4, 8, 16, 32, or 64, or any number of live inputs to record onto separate tracks, that would be equally simple, yes (just change the Number parameter accordingly).
