need help with live setup

Recommended Posts

I am in an industrial band and we are looking at playing some shows and I was wondering if this set up would work. I’ll be using ableton/apc40 on my macbook pro as a clip launcher i got the Traktor audio 2 , I will have Massive running as a stand alone and have my oxygen 49 to play live synth parts ..now would I use a 1/4 jack from my traktor audio 2 into a DI box into the venure sound or would I need to buy a small mixer....also with ableton running as a clip launcher with my apc40 would I still be able to have massive run and play my synth parts in massive with ableton running at the same time

The Traktor has only 2 outputs, so you can mixdown everything (Live+Massive) to the 2 outputs, connect those to two DI Boxes and feed the mic lines to the venue's PA. If you don't mind running them in mono you could use one output for Live and the other for Massive, which would give more flexibility for the PA engineer who will then be able to adjust their levels/eq individually.

No need to buy a small mixer.

Oh and most venues have DI Boxes on hand, but still I'd recommend you travel with your own, just in case. Back when I did live shows I would always show up ready with all my DI Boxes and everything, that way I could guarantee there'd be no surprises on that end. No need to add any stress in those conditions. ;)

Thank you David , and when I was talking to some other industrial bands one thing most of them told me was “ make sure you have at least 2 DI Boxes in your gear bag “ Your info and help is greatly appreciated
