n0mad
Hi guys, I would love to have your help on this. Not even sure where to start. I'm having trouble getting LP to correctly assign the correct surround channels. It mixes up all the channel assignments (C is playing on L, for example) both when playing out to surround or stereo. I tried a few different settings in I/O input and output, but it's as if it doesn't matter what I put there. When I have it outputting to Apple TV through Airplay, it only reproduces the L and R channel, ignoring everything else. Do you have any idea what might be going on here? Please let me know if you need more info on it. Thanks.
n0mad
Some more info. Channel assignments for both input and output are set to default (L 1, R 2, Ls 3, Rs 4, C 5, LFE 6). When I import a movie in MP4/AAC format and bounce the sound track as splits I can identify that C is again playing on L and LFE is on Rs. I tried using thesurround setup made by jacenty and the only channels being played are L and R, both when playing to my headphones or sending to Apple TV so I can use my home theater. Still no clue what's going on...
shivermetimbers
I didn't even bother reading the link you provided. You can assign each output to your Audio interface. You will need an interface that goes beyond the typical stereo output, one that has 6 or more outputs. Each surround sound component can then be assigned to an individual mono output. Next, you will need to process your mix to be 'surround sound.' Once you have that encoded, you will need a way to play it back on a surround sound system (decode). Back when I experimented with this, I used the multi output audio interface with 5 speakers and a sub/6th speaker to get a rough mix. I used Soundtrack Pro to encode the signals into a surround sound mix. To play everything back, I used an optical cable out from my macbook headphone/digital output to the input of the surround sound receiver digital input. But that's the I/O settings, right? I tried all sorts of settings and it doesn't work — it's ignoring everything being the L and R channels, even when I connect it to Apple TV through Airplay (the ATV is connected to my amp). I use a Multichannel gain input to mute out white noise playing in a loop, and even though the meters show there's something playing, there's nothing coming out from the speakers. Also, it is reading the surround track from mp4 files completely wrong, switching channels around.
