camillo jr
I'm prepping some files for a client; I want to get rid of the first four bars of blank space in each file before sending them to him. If I select the trimmed region in the Bin, the Optimize command is not available. If I select the entire region in the Bin, then the Optimize command IS available but when the window comes up, the "remove" button is greyed out and it says there are no samples to remove. What am I missing?
Benco
Hi Optimize is for files only, not regions To do what you want follow 1. Go to bin/edit/select unused. It will select the unused regions in the bin 2.Press delete It will delete the unused regions in the bin 3.Select the audio file you want to optimize 4.Choose bin/audio file/optimize files now it will optimize the file as expected Optimize looks for parts in the file that are not associated with regions. It doesn't matter if these regions are in the arrange or not. You need always first to delete the unused regions (as described above) and then optimize. hope it helps B

triplets
Always stick to Select/Unused and then Delete from the Bin. If you want to get definitely get rid of unwanted files on your drive you have to go to Logic/Project/Clean Up and select the files you want. If you have bounces already double-check that those are not checked because Logic will include them.

Project / Clean Up is the only way to know if what you deleted in the bin is really gone. You can always look in the Trash later.
bobsbarricades
Because I'm paranoid...is there a way to make sure that I'm not deleting files that I'm using? I just hate knowing I can't undo it...

When you do Project / Clean Up, it lists everything that's going to be deleted. Look at the list and uncheck what you want to keep. The list includes bounces you made. bobsbarricades
But that's hundreds of files labeled "audio#n" I've a bad habit of not naming tracks until I've put something down. Artist first, engineer second =/
