WEIRD what happened?~'Stuck' Transport? - Problem & Solution

I don't know what I did to cause it* ~ but I never saw this happen before...

My LOGIC project file stopped playing past about 3 ticks - I would hit spacebar the project would play and immediately stop

If not exactly a solution, I made a very satisfactory workaround by creating a new Project file and importing all the tracks and content — however, would still be interested to know what could possibly have caused this strange behaviour.

* possibly playing with beta AU implementations of Moog SubPhatty plug in editor for external hardware instrument?

It's an external instrument so one would assume you would use an External MIDI track for the plug in but since they don't contain Channel Strips that isn't a possible choice — however you can insert it on an audio or software instrument track

Generally I use the input filter within LOGIC prefs to filter out the vast amounts of MIDI data being output from the Moog but didn't this time for the purpose of testing the plug-in :?

I would think that you probably tried to select something in the arrange area and accidentally created a very short or small loop by 'rubberbanding' in bar ruler. With the cycle mode initiated it would create an extremely short loop. My best guess...

INDEED my description sounds like that — but there was/is nothing in the BAR line above the arrange window to indicate a loop being activated..... and mu start and end are set at the length of the project ~ 20 minutes or so...
