noahkenny
when youre using a synthesizer when using certain ones like the techno chirper you always get a accent when you just hit a single note but when you transition from note to note you dont and it just sound smooth i was wondering how you make it so there never is an accent. thx
Eriksimon
What you hear is not an 'accent', but the attack and decay from your amp(litude) EG or filter EG. You will have to play around with the ADSR or ENV or EG (Envelope Generator). What you describe is called Legato mode, many synths have that; it means that when notes are overlapping, the Envelope Generator or ENV or ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release) is not being retriggered, it stays at its' S (Sustain) level. As soon as you leave any sort of gap between two notes/chords, the EG will be retriggered, so you again hear the two first parts of the envelope of the sound: attack and decay. Accent means something pretty different: that one note or chord is played with more volume, or held slightly longer, than surrounding notes or chords. noahkenny
could you maybe simpify that a bit more i understood a bit but i cant find what youre talking about with most instruments im looking at (theyre stock)
Eriksimon
First tell me exactly which synth you are using. And btw, almost all synths have an EG or envelope generator, and they almost always have the parameters attack, decay, sustain and release (ADSR). Mr Misfit
Portmento is often what the "slide" between notes is called. The synth needs to be in mono mode (so only one note can be played at a time). The amount of portmento affects how long it takes for the note to slide up or down to the next one. If you do not want this to happen then turn portmento all the way down or turn it off if you can. If you want the notes to slide into each other but for certain notes to stand out and not slide, leave a gap before those notes and the envelope generator will kick in, as eriksimon says above.
