jamstock
I have just bought a new Macbook Pro, and am using Logic 9.1.7 and OS 10.8.4 My Novation x-station is behaving strangely. Usually it's ok, but sometimes it will change to 48K sample rate for no reason, and then change back again. I am unable to change the sample rate myself when I go into Audio Midi setup. Also when waking the computer from sleep, the x-station doesn't work. I have to select the internal sound card, and then re-select the x-station in audio preferences for it to work again… It used to work fine on my old MBP 2007 with same OS, so i can't figure out what the problem is. Maybe there is something wrong with my computer? Has anyone encountered/ solved this problem? PS I have the latest driver (2.5) installed
Jordi Torres
I am unable to change the sample rate myself when I go into Audio Midi setup. If you're using Logic you should be setting the sample rate right on the Logic project, not Audio MIDI Setup. Also when waking the computer from sleep, the x-station doesn't work. I have to select the internal sound card, and then re-select the x-station in audio preferences for it to work again… As you've found out, some hardware don't behave well when the computer is put to sleep. To avoid problems, don't let the computer go to sleep. Letting the monitor go to sleep is OK. J.
jamstock
Thanks for the reply. The project is set in logic at 41K.... It's just when I go and do something else, for example go on the internet, and then come back, the x-station doesn't work anymore. I then go to check Audio Midi Setup, and find that it has been changed to 48K which is incompatible with my 41K session! I can't change the sample rate back to 41K in AM setup, and the only thing i can do is unplug the x-station and then plug it back in. That does the trick but it's time-consuming and annoying. jamstock
I am also using in conjunction with NI Maschine, and I don't know if that might have something to do with it
Jordi Torres
I am also using in conjunction with NI Maschine, and I don't know if that might have something to do with it Could be. Better do some tests with and without Maschine and vice-versa (with and without the X-Station). J.
jamstock
OK I found a work around, in case anyone is having this problem. You have to plug in the X-Station before launching Logic, and before plugging in Maschine. Then go to Audio-Midi setup, select X-Station, and change the sample rate from 48 K to 44.1 K. You can then launch Logic and plug in Maschine without any problems. When waking the Mac from sleep the X-Station won't emit any sound. The only way round this is to go into Audio preferences, select another interface, and then re-select the X-Station. It should then work. Novation support said if I got a USB 2 hub that might solve all the problems, but I can live with it for now.

jamstock
No worries. I did the tests as you suggested.
