fisherking
i UNDERSTAND why, but...frustrated. all my logic 9 files show a generic logic icon...no more previews. not until i OPEN then SAVE them as LX files. makes sense, but frustrating. guess i will open EVERY 9 file and resave it (will have to do that eventually anyway). end minor rant. Cephalopod
So let me get this straight: If I keep LP9 installed, I can preview projects in LPX. As soon as I delete LP9, I can no longer preview those projects in LPX unless they have been saved by LPX? Why would this make sense?
Chris Rickwood
We're talking about the "Quick Look" feature in the Finder. If you hit space with a Logic project file selected in Finder, you will see a screenshot of the project. If you uninstall LP9, I guess the finder loses it's binding and cannot show the screenshot. You can open LP9 projects in LPX at any time.

I have a hard time naming projects and almost never know what a project is by its name. Usually a glance in Quick Look sorts it all out.
cforlong
The 'Quick Look" feature is still there …. but one has to go thru an extra step to see them = Hitting the space bar. I used this feature all the time with LP9 from within the app. Especially with the 'IMPORT' action. A browser opens and you could 'Quick Look' at LP9 Arrangement images and SEE what was what. Also very useful was that if you had created project notes , Quick View gave me the ability to actually read the project notes without opening a project. Another change in LPX is that the Quick Look image itself, by default, is 65% smaller than the LP9's Quick Look images. Sure you can resize them , but that now makes 3 steps to see 'what is what' . Hey Apple … you went backwards … 2 big steps… on one GREAT feature. On a similar note …. I suggested in another thread that it would be VERY valuable to be able to 'Quick Look' at a PATCH (especially track stack patches) when browsing the library. I could see aux's, effects, instruments …. all in an image. It would just be a frame drawing like this >
cforlong
Am I the only one who is missing the nice LARGE Quick Look feature …. in a single step? The other issue that I just now noticed is ONLY the frontmost object appears in a Quick Look. So … If you save a project with … a MIDI EFFECT Plugin open …. that is the ONLY object you will see in the 'Quick Look'. These little issues seems to be more of an oversight and not an intentional development. I'll file a formal bug report. If you have such issues … Send reports to Apple. Sometimes it is the only way they become aware of these matters. When you send bug reports or enhancement suggestions, try to be very clear on what the issue is… step by step. Read it over a few times …. as 'someone else' .
