mindprint
In L9 we used to export stems as part of the Export > All tracks as Audio files assigning tracks/channels to a bus and drawing an empty region in the aux/bus track in the arrange window. Now the Track Stack is a great way to do summing in the mix and seems like it's done in the same way (automated) but even a great help during mixing since it hides the tracks and only shows the Summing (bus/aux) channel in the mix. When it come to exporting stems I would assume the Export > All tracks as Audio files would export the summing tracks as well as stems. But no. Nothing gets exported. OK so i guess the Track stack needs an empty region (!) to get going. So I create it but now the representation of the stack/folder vanishes there is only the empty region in the arranger. Still let's export all tracks; YES the summing/bus/aux gets exported as a stem as well. That is great. But why do we still need the empty region and why does the folder representation disappear? Bug? Not finished? I would assume the new Track Stacks should be exported as stems with all tracks when doing Export > All tracks as Audio files without adding any empty regions. Also it would be great if there were option when doing Export > All tracks as Audio files to export only Track Stack or only tracks or both. What is your take on this? mindprint
Anyone. How do you export stems from LPX?
Chris D
I just choose relevant regions and hit "s" and bounce. All routing is preserved. Like fx aux and such. I color code the different categories.
blinkofani
Just read a release note on Apple page that says to select the regions of the main stack track and do a bounce region to audio for stem exporting of the tracks stack, or track stacks, or stracks tack, or.... mindprint
Thanks Chris D and blinkofani, But is only if you do not have sends. Even if your send return (bus) is in the track stack it gets not rendered in the bounce. So it's missing the point when you want to export stems of your submixes and FX returns. I know I can still use the old way How to export multiple stems but now having Track Stacks I was assuming you would be able to to have exported as part of the Export All tracks as audio files I guess it's a feature request then. Also, why would I litter the project with unnecessary bounces when I only need them for export?
composerguy78
I imagine someone has figured out how to do this since this post is from over two years ago! I am trying to bounce stems in Logic 10.2.1 INCLUDING sends on each stem. Each stem is a Track Stack. Eg. Gtrs, Strings, Perc etc. I would greatly appreciate any enlightenment! Arnaud
Solo-safe the aux returns.
composerguy78
HI Arnaud, If I solo-safe the aux return that would create a bounce of only that aux return ie. If aux return 1 goes to reverb it would bounce a file of reverb only. I am looking to INCLUDE reverb on each stem/sub-mix. Eg. Strings (with reverb included), Perc (with reverb) etc.
alexpen
Anyone? I'm looking for exactly the same >> I am looking to INCLUDE reverb on each stem/sub-mix. Eg. Strings (with reverb included), Perc (with reverb) etc.
Arnaud
I read this long after the last posts of this discussion, sorry, I was off this forum for quite a while. In my post above, I did not write "solo" (the aux returns), I wrote "solo-SAFE" (the same). This means you set the solo mode of the aux return so that is is NOT muted when another track is soloed (you have to look into the help here, I think it's right-clicking the solo button of the aux return to achieve this, but I'm not sure, I don't write this from my LPX computer). When you have set the reverb (for instance) in solo-safe mode, you then do solo the tracks you want in your stem bounce, everything else will be muted except this aux return. Voilà!
