LPX: default channel colors?

Poking my way around the new beast... another question: is there any way to choose a default color for audio channels, or instruments, or auxes - you get the picture. If I choose a new (and better to my eyes) color for the first audio track then hit the duplicate track button, it shows up in the default blue. Same with each of the other track types. I know I can make a template with all my tracks and assign specific colors, but sometime I might add an aux or another instrument, then I must wangle both the mixer channel strip and the track to the correct color. Thanks for any advice - this forum is spectacular!!

Unfortunately you can't. In 9 you could go to the color palette and double click the slot where the default audio or midi color was and change it to your liking. They removed the custom color palette in Logic X, so your stuck with the blue and green defaults. If it's really important to you, I would create a session with audio, instrument, aux tracks, assign the colors you want and import from that session. I have a screenset that's already has the file browser open with the session to import from right there. It's pretty convenient that way.

Hopefully they will restore the custom color palette at some point...... And custom icons...... and "new with next midi channel....

Upon further experimentation with your suggestion, I made a template with 10 audio tracks and 10 software instrument tracks each with a color of my choice. When I drag an audio file into my track, the file (region) is the default blue, not my color choice. When I choose a software instrument, my color choice is immediately changed to the default green. Version 0.0 problems I guess! - John

Ok, that's the same way it worked in 9. You can assign colors to tracks and import them into a new session and those colors will work for anything you record on them. Drag and drop is a different story. Those files will remain the default color. If we had a custom color palette, we could change the slot that Logic has assigned to those specific tracks, but we don't....

As far as your instrument tracks go, the assigned color should work. I just tested it here and it worked fine. Not sure what's going on there. Let me know how you get on....
