lostmemories
On Logic X, when I'm using "A" key to toggle automation view "on", the selected track automatically switch to "Read". I don't know if there is something wrong in my setup, if this this an issue, or a new feature? It is a bit annoying, cause when I want to see automations, it is not necessary to push the selected track in read mode, the workaround is to create a screenset with automation mode activated, and use this screenset instead of "A" key, I did nott find a setup to deactivate this. Could someone confirm this behavior?
David Nahmani
In Logic Pro X, the default automation mode is now "Read" with the Track Automation button turned off. To actually be in read mode you'd have to first turn on the track automation button. http://help.apple.com/logicpro/mac/10/en.lproj/Art/S0595_autViewOffUL3.png
KC
On that note, have you noticed that when you hit the key command for automation, all the tracks show automation? Was it like that in LP9? I seem to remember if I had a track selected and hit 'A" just that track's automation would show up, no? kc
lostmemories
Thanks for your answer David, I did notice that, and no problem with this, it is a good way to switch automation "On/Off" and have separated mode. Sorry, I did not explain clearly, what I described is the switch to automation view with "A" key, when you are switching, now, Logic X automatically switch the selected track to automation "On" (the new track automation button). I believe, when you want to see all automations in your project, it is not necessary to activate the automation on the selected track, but just see all your automation. Since Logic X, you have a new button to switch "on/off" automation per track, in Logic 9 it was in the same menu as "read", "touch", "latch", etc... KC
Really?! I just don't remember it that way. you'd think it was years since I used LP9 cheers - kc
David Nahmani
On that note, have you noticed that when you hit the key command for automation, all the tracks show automation? Was it like that in LP9? Yes it was, but if you also had Auto Track Zoom enabled, depending on the vertical zoom level, you may have only seen automation on the zoomed track. David Nahmani
the switch to automation view with "A" key, when you are switching, now, Logic X automatically switch the selected track to automation "On" (the new track automation button). Ah you're right! In LP9, it was when you clicked to insert your first node on the automation lane that it would set the automation mode for that track to "Read" automatically. Now the instant you press A you turn on automation for the selected track.
lostmemories
Thanks to confirm David, maybe the actual behavior is an issue, cause in the manual I read to show automation curve for a track, you need to: 1. Press "A" 2. Click the Track Automation button in the track header.
David Nahmani
Well you're right there's a discrepancy with what the manual says. I'm moving this to the Bug section.
lostmemories
Yes, now each time I want to see my automations curves, I'm activating accidentally automations on tracks I don't need automations.
David Nahmani
And I'm just realizing it's a big problem if the track was already in one of the touch/latch/write mode!!

lostmemories
Just find another issue with the automation button switch, if you move multiple regions or copy multiple regions from multiple tracks, and one of this track have an automation, all other tracks will have automatically there automations turned "ON" in "Read" mode. jr2013
I have noticed the same thing. Anything new on this? Yeah when i hit 'a' - to show automation, like i always did in logic 9 it activates automation on tracks i actually turned it off on. really confusing... took me a while to figure out that it was doing that. totally a bug. the only work around i have found is to actual create automation data on the track by getting a volume level set with automation, and then turn it off. seems as if the problems is that show automation will activate automation on any track that doesnt have automation data. then all of a sudden after a while there lots of green automation buttons on that you didnt think you turned on.
